Winter Wonderland

Sierra Nevada works with the Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department to provide a fun day of activities for children. The event takes place in the Carson Valley Middle School's multipurpose room. Parents are able to enjoy a day of childless holiday shopping knowing that their children are safe and having fun. The event is from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM and is held on a Saturday in December.

Project Santa Claus

Sierra Nevada works closely with the Douglas County Family Support Council to provide Christmas gifts for the areas needy children. Sierra Nevada solicits businesses for donations to support this project. Leadership students from Carson Valley Middle School provide assistance shopping for the area children. Each child receives $50 in Christmas presents. Sierra Nevada spends one evening shopping for the children and another evening wrapping all the gifts.

Games at Carson Valley Days

Carson Valley Days is a longstanding tradition in Douglas County and is always the second weekend of June. This is the major fundraising project for Active 20-30 Carson Valley #85. Sierra Nevada participates in the parade, the craft fair and the watermelon eating contest. The parade is on Saturday morning; the booth is set up all weekend and the highlight of Sunday is the watermelon eating contest. This is always a fabulous weekend to start the summer off right. It is a great family event and a good time is guaranteed.
